A festival dedicated to skateboarding, art, urbanism, and education
June 29 - July 6, 2024 in České Budějovice and Tábor
České Budějovice has been awarded the title of European Capital of Culture (EHMK), and skateboarding holds an important place in the program for the coming years. The main event within the skateboarding section of EHMK 2028 this year will be the Skateholders Forum festival. A week packed with skate jams, panel discussions, exhibitions, workshops, and evening entertainment, all featuring interesting guests from several European countries.
The whole program will start on Saturday 29 June, 2024 with a contest in the local skate park and will continue until Wednesday 3 July with daily activities, mainly discussions and workshops. On Thursday 4 July, the Skateholders Forum will move to Tabor to join the Transforma festival and culminate with the traditional DIY contest Vozová Hrotba.

Opening: “Southside Skateboarding: Four Decades on Four Wheels between Šumava and Vysočina.” An exhibition on the history and present of South Bohemian skateboarding with period photos, texts, artifacts, and curatorial commentary.

Panel Debate: “History and Stories of the South Bohemian Skate Scene: from Summercamp to Skateholders” Moderated by Jakub Novotný, with panelists Martin Kalenský, Antonín Záhorka, Míra Bartoš, and Jirka Herman.
Tuesday 2 July

Panel Debate: “Skate-Friendly Urbanism: How can skateboarding in public spaces benefit city functioning overall?”
Moderated by Stuart MacLure, featuring Leo Valls, Gustav Eden, Chris Lawton
The debate will be held in English with Czech translation.
